Golfutar Semi Indoor Basketball Hall was inaugurated on Saturday in Golfutar located in Budhanilkanth Municipality Ward-8.
Budhanilkanth Municipality Mayor Mitharam Adhikari inaugurated the hall. According to the municipality, out of which a budget of 2 crores was allocated for the hall built on an area of about 2 ropanis, the construction was completed for 14.44 crores. Showers, bathrooms, common rooms, changing rooms, toilets and a parapet with a capacity of about 100 spectators have been built in the
court. Futsal infrastructure is also being built on the vacant land next to the hall.
Mayor Adhikari said that the hall was built under the scheme of Nagar Gaurav. He expected that this would make it easier to conduct training and competitions at any time.
Deputy Mayor Anita Lama reminded that Budhanilkanth is a municipality with many national athletes and said that the municipality has given special attention to sports activities and infrastructure construction so that the athletes can train in infrastructure.
Anusha Malla, the captain of the city-based national women's basketball team, expressed her opinion that the sports infrastructure also attracts children to the game and expressed her happiness that the outdoor court, which she has been playing since childhood, has become a hall.
Suman Tamang, Coordinator of Budhanilkanth Municipal Sports Board and Chairman of Ward 8, said that 1 month training will be conducted for children in the evening.
On the occasion of the opening, a friendly basketball game was played between the women's team and the veteran men's team under the leadership of Anusha Mall, the captain of the national women's basketball team.
Former basketball player Sohan Thapa Magar, football player Siddhant Khadka and Ujjwal Bhattarai, who made it to the top 12 of Indian Idol, were honored.
