The Nepali youth football team, which will go to Tajikistan to play the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers, has been bid farewell on Saturday.

The team under the captaincy of Ayush Ghalan will compete in the qualifiers to be held in Tajikistan from September 3 to 9. Group 'K' includes hosts Tajikistan, Syria and Philippines along with Nepal.

On Sunday morning, All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) bid farewell to the team going there on Saturday. President Pankajvikram Nembang, General Secretary Kiran Rai and others bid farewell.

The team is under the training of coach Naveen Neupane. He said that even though the rival team is strong, his goal is to get Nepal to qualify for the Asia Cup.

Nepal will play their first match against Tajikistan on September 3. Then they will play against Syria on September 6 and the Philippines on September 9. 

Nepali team goalkeepers Krishal Moktan, Amit Tamata, Vishal KC, defenders Vivek Gurung, Vishal Nepali, Lahan Subba, Nigma Lama, Ram Thapa, Shankar Tharu, Seemant Thapa, midfielders Abhishek Syangtan, Ayush Ghalan, Aaron Thapa, Niraj Karki, Dipesh Gurung, Kritisharat Chunju, Pujan Thapa, Sanjeev Lama, Santosh Khatri, Sujan Magar, Sumit Shrestha and Rohan Khadgi, Neerajan Dhami are in the forward.
