Preparations have been made for the 'Third Jyotipunj Cup' open football tournament along with the grand campaign to build a 'Rangshala' in Rampur of Palpa. Jyoti Punj Youth Club in Rampur Municipality is going to hold an open football tournament.

The club located in Rampur municipality-7, Kisanbari is going to organize the 'Third Jyotipunj Cup 2082' football tournament at Kisanbari playground this year as well. Sundar Rana, president of the club informed that the first and second editions have been successfully completed and the third edition is being worked on to make it a success. President Rana said that the winner of the

competition will get 350,000 and the runner-up will get 200,000 cash, trophy, medal and certificate. The competition will be held from October 3rd to 11th. The organizer informed that the best 10 football clubs from Palpa, Kaski, Syangja, Rupandehi, Nawalparasi, Tanahun, Chitwan and other districts will participate in the competition. 25/25,000 cash will be awarded to the teams that reach the semi-finals but do not reach the finals. In the

competition, the most valuable player will receive 17,000 cash, certificate and trophy. Most goal scorer, best goalkeeper, best defender, rising player, best coach will be awarded cash 8 thousand, certificate and trophy. Rampur Municipality is the sponsor for the competition.

Rampur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, City Sports Development Committee, District Sports Development Committee, Provincial Sports Development Committee, etc., have helped the club, said Sudeep Gautam, former president of the club. Suggestions have been collected from local people's representatives, political parties, industry and commerce associations, club advisors and other stakeholders for the preparation of the competition.

Jyoti Punj Youth Club's playground, which will be held at Kisanbari, said the organizers will spend more than 3 million. The club has assisted in the cleaning of the playground, grass cutting, etc. with the participation of the police, Nepali army, local groups, local residents, players, and citizens.

Sports coordinator Anil Shahi Thakuri said that since the Rampur region is a terai-like plain/valley, there are plenty of sports fields here and in the future, a football tournament will be organized every year with plans to make it a 'hub' for sports. 'Rampur municipality has been providing great support for the development of sports,' he said, 'which has given us more encouragement. People living in the country and abroad have also been helping us.'

Rampur Municipality has trained more than 500 people under the age of 15 by holding grassroots football training through the Municipal Sports Development Committee. As a result, interest in sports such as football and volleyball has been increasing since childhood, said Raman Bahadur Thapa, Mayor of Rampur Municipality.
