Patan High Court has quashed the decision to ban Ganesh Thapa, former president of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) from any football activities. In Thapa's complaint, the court on Monday said that the decision to stop ANFA was against the principles of justice.
Thapa, who has already served the 10-year ban imposed by the International Football Federation (FIFA), was punished by the ANFA Disciplinary and Ethics Committee by barring him from participating in football activities.
The Disciplinary Committee on May 4 and the Ethics Committee on May 16 decided that Thapa cannot participate in any football activities as per Article 24(3) e of the ANFA Statute.
The court ruled that there is no need to take further action against Thapa as FIFA has already taken action. The court has also issued an order in the name of ANFA not to take any action against Thapa and not to participate in football activities.
Thapa filed a writ of contempt because he was not allowed to enter the ANFA general meeting on May 26, contrary to the interim order given by the court. The said writ was dismissed by the High Court saying that the claim was not sufficient. Now Thapa is going to go to the Supreme Court against that decision.
