U-14 T-20 Boys Open Cricket Tournament is going to be organized by Rising Star Cricket Academy. The Rising Star Cricket Academy and Event Management announced on Sunday that the tournament will be held from August 24 to October 8.
President of Rising Star Academy Sunil Amatya said that the tournament is going to be organized with the aim of encouraging young cricket talent in Nepal. He also claimed that such competitions are rarely held in this age group in Nepal. He said that the U-14 cricket was organized because the players of the age group will determine the future of Nepali cricket.
The group stage and semi-final match will be held at Sifal Ground Gaushala, according to the organizers. The organizers said that the final match will be held at Moolpani. A total of 17 teams will compete in the league and knockout stages, 5 from Cricket Excellence Center, 4 from Great Himalaya Cricket Academy, 2 from Oasis Cricket Academy, Kathmandu Cricket Academy, Kings Cricket Academy, Kavre Cricket Academy, Nexus Cricket Academy, Alpine Academy and 1 team from the host Rising Star Cricket Academy. The
participating teams will be divided into four groups and the top two teams will reach the quarterfinals. The winner will get 30,000 cash, trophy and certificate and the runner-up will get 20,000 cash, trophy and certificate. According to the organizers, awards, trophies and certificates will also be given to Player of the Series, Best Batter, Best Bowler and Best Fielder. Ramji Bhandari, ward president of ward number 9 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, who is also the main sponsor of the
competition, emphasized that such competitions should be organized regularly. Ravindra Gupta, technical director of the tournament, said that such a tournament will be important in the development of grassroots cricket and youth cricket.
