Xavier College and Greenfield got off to a winning start on Friday in the inter-college plus two student basketball tournament under the Global Hoop Fest.

Xavier defeated Kanjirova with a score of 58-34 in the match at the Royal Sports Center. Kushal Gurung of Xavier scored 12.

Greenfield defeated Goldengate College 'A' 63-51 on Sushant Karki's 21 points. After leading 16-15 and 18-11 in the first and second quarters, Greenfield trailed 8-13 in the third. Greenfield won by scoring 21-12 in the fourth quarter.

Abide Global Education Consultancy organized the competition, Barnhart and Premier won.

Barnhart won 56-46 over Times College. Barnhart's Anish Gurung scored 17.  Ashwin Chalise scored 21 as Premier beat Goldengate 'B' 53-30.   Bhimsingh Gurung, president of Nepal Basketball Association, inaugurated the

competition. The winner of the 11-team participating competition will receive a cash prize of 25,000 and the runner-up will receive a cash prize of 10,000. The Most Valuable Player will be awarded with 5,000.
