European champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) continued their run of form by winning the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday. The team beat Europa League winners Tottenham 4-3 in a tiebreaker to win their first title of the new season.

"We are proud of this victory, because we achieved this success without much preparation," said PSG captain Marquinhoz.

He added, 'The main feature of the game is the strong mental base of the team. As everyone knows, football is not just a physical game. Being able to perform at the right time is the biggest, that is the mental strategy. Tottenham started playing comfortably after taking a two-goal lead. This allowed us to attack.'

was tied at 2-2 at the scheduled time. On both occasions, PSG staged a comeback. This is the first time that any French club has won the Super Cup. In 2025, the number of titles won by PSG has reached 5. PSG lost to Chelsea in the final of the Club World Cup. In this time's match at Udinese in Italy, Tottenham seemed to be headed for the title.

Tottenham were 2-0 up in the first half after Mickey van de Ven and Christian Romero scored. After that, Lee Kang-in from PSG scored the first goal in the 85th minute and Gonzalo Romos equalized in the fourth minute of injury time. In the tiebreaker, Nuno Mendez scored the decisive goal for the French champions, and the team's comeback was complete.

Tottenham have failed to get off to a good start since Thomas Frank took over as new manager. After the game, he said, "I think our performance was good." Everyone knows how much PSG is a world-class team.

I think there is no team as good as PSG right now. We lost, but there are many positives in this game. So everyone has reason to be happy with the performance.'
