On the occasion of Lakhejatra, the third edition of Taplejung Gold Cup football is starting on Saturday at the Bhanujan Mavi ground in the headquarters of Fungling. In the opening match, the host team Telok Sporting Club Taplejung and Sunsari Ithari's The Young Brothers Club will compete.

 Telok will play two foreign players Fofona and Samuel. 6 players including Jeevan Gurung, Sanjay Shrestha, Rupesh KC have been contracted. They are playing for different clubs. The rest of the players are from the district. 

Brothers Club has included Pravesh Basnet of Three Star, Shishir Chaudhary of Police, Ramesh Rajvanshi of Itahari, Yogen Karki, Sanjay Dhimal, Yuvraj Thapa, Nishan Thapa Magar and others in the team. Club president Arjun Bhattarai said that Tellok, which is about a day's walk from Fungling, aims to reach the finals for the first time by playing for the hosts. He said that the team was prepared by including 6 players who played in A Division and the rest from Taplejung.

Itahari's coach Samarpan Magar said that they will win the opening match and make a strategy after that. Sunday will be between Sahara Club Pokhara and Redstar Football Club Jhapa. The Pokhara team has also come to Taplejung on Friday. In the third match, there will be a match between Legend Football Academy Siliguri and Church Boys Club Kathmandu, then Salhes Yuva Club Siraha and Fidim Sporting Club Panchthar.  In the

category will be awarded with a rate of 15,000. Man of the match will receive 7 thousand. The competition has been held since 2029 on the occasion of Lakhejatra. The competition has been held under various names such as Kanchenjunga, Pathibhara etc.
