Costa captained Porto to win the European Champions League under Jose Mourinho in 2004. He won 50 caps for Portugal. He was also a member of the Portuguese golden team that won the U-20 World Cup in 1991 along with Luis Figo.
Porto's former coach, Mourinho, has also expressed grief over Costa's death. He said, "He is a part of my history." Cristiano Ronaldo also responded that his memories with Costa will always remain.
