On the 22nd of Chaitra 2081, the vice president of the association Vinay Rajbhandari was the proposer and 31 delegates signed and sent a motion of no confidence against Gurung to the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN). According to CAN's instructions, he was relieved of his post after the no-confidence motion against Gurung was passed in the special general meeting held at Taulihwa in Kapilvastu on May 3.
Gurung filed a writ petition in the Tulsipur Butwal bench of the High Court on May 25, making 6 people including Can as defendants.
On Wednesday, the joint bench of Justices Jagat Bahadur Thapa and Tejendra Prasad Sharma Sapkota of the High Court refused to issue an extradition warrant in favor of Gurung and dismissed the writ. Along with this, the decision taken by the special general meeting of the Lumbini Pradesh Cricket Association to relieve Gurung from his post has been declared valid. Likewise, the association has also opened the way to call another general meeting to elect the president.
Gurung was the state president of the association for the last one and a half years. Acting President of Lumbini Pradesh Cricket Association Vinay Rajbhandari said that the decision taken by the special general meeting was declared valid by the court and now the annual general meeting will be held soon.
After Gurung was relieved of his post, the position of president in the association has become vacant. Similarly, after the death of treasurer Rajesh Shakya, the post is also vacant. The association said that the next annual general meeting will appoint these positions. The entire working committee passed a motion of no confidence against Gurung saying that he ran a fake association, committed financial irregularities and ignored the law.
