Nepal's April Rana is sure to win at least a bronze medal in the men's U-22 age group of the Asian Boxing Championship.
Shyamkaji Awale, International Coordinator of Boxing and Vice President of Nepal Boxing Federation, said that the bronze medal was confirmed after reaching the April Safe Final in the 50 kg weight group.
In the Asian Boxing tournament being held in Bangkok, Thailand, April defeated Bhutanese boxer Kinley Phuncho by 4:1 (split) and confirmed the semi-finals. Earlier, April beat Saudi Arabia's Ibrahim 5-0 was decided in the quarterfinals.
April will compete against Japanese boxer Sodai Koto in the semi-finals on August 6. Koto defeated the Filipino boxer 5-0 and made his way to the semi-finals.
