Arya Maharjan's trip to Nepal has come to an end as she competed in the 50m freestyle at the World Aquatics Championship on Saturday.
Arya covered the distance in 30.07 seconds at the championships in Singapore. She ranked 84th overall in hits. 100 out of 105 competitors crossed the distance.
14-year-old Arya's women's 50m freestyle national record is 27.95 seconds in the name of Gaurika Singh. Arya also competed in the 100m freestyle at the World Aquatics. She clocked 1 minute 05.43 seconds. She was ranked 75th in that.
Azalkazi Tamrakar clocked 25.16 seconds in men's 50m freestyle. Azalkazi was ranked 87th out of 116 competitors. He set a national record in the 50m butterfly of this championship. Set a new national record of 26.49 seconds. He has improved the record of his own name. Azalkazi clocked 27.05 seconds at the 2023 World Aquatic Junior Championships in Israel. He finished 77th out of 100 competitors in the butterfly in Singapore. Olympians Duana Lama and Irvin Shrestha were among the four players who participated in the
championship. Duwana clocked 2 minutes 12.40 seconds in the 200m freestyle. She finished 44th. 47 competitors made it through the heat stage. Gaurika Singh's national record for this event is 2 minutes 11.94 seconds. Gaurika set the record in 2017.
Duwana finished 55th in the 100m breaststroke with a timing of 1 minute 17.71 seconds. There were two players behind him. In this category, the record of 1 minute 17.14 seconds is held by Duwana. She set the record in the Age Group Championship held in Malaysia in April last year.

Before going to the competition, coach Karki expressed his hope that this participation will help in the preparation of the 20th Asian Games.
