The majority members of the Nepal Athletics Association said in a press conference on Sunday that President Rajeev Vikram Shah is going to hold an election contrary to the prevailing rules of sports and that it is not acceptable to them. The National Sports Council formed an ad hoc committee of the Athletics Association for the second time and entrusted the election.
After the four-year tenure of the association ended in 079, an ad-hoc committee of the athletics association was formed within three months of the election under Shah's leadership. But the ad-hoc committee formed on June 30, 080 could not hold elections for a long time and another ad-hoc committee was formed in May 082. In that too, the coordinator was assigned to Shah. It was accepted by the majority of members of the Athletics Association. The same majority members of the union held a joint press conference and accused Shah of going to the election against the rules without approving the constitution from the council.
He also accused of forming illegal committees in different districts and states. Pitambar Timilsina, a member of the association, said, 'We have explained the reality to the member secretary of the council. We do not accept this illegal process. We have filed a case in court for that. If the election is not stopped, we will go to the court again.
The old athletics association is still valid and its general secretary Dhanveer Choudhary said, "Since the district and state athletics association is arbitrarily formed and illegal elections are being held without understanding the letter of the honorable court, we have demanded that the election process be postponed and the election process should be carried out only after a fair investigation."
He said that he went to the council but the council did not approve it. He said, "We requested the council to approve the legislation for the elections." We were not approved, but then the council formed a new ad-hoc committee. In the statement issued by Chaudhary at the
press conference, Shah has accused Shah of not calling a general meeting even once during his four years in office, not even holding a meeting of the working committee, not even once passing the financial statement in the general meeting and not coordinating with international bodies and thus depriving Nepal of support and facilities.
