The All Nepal Table Tennis Association is going to organize the South Asian selection of the World Team Table Tennis Championship on Wednesday.
Apart from Bhutan and Pakistan, 34 athletes from 5 countries including Nepal will participate in the tournament, as well as the tournament director, Kuwer Prakash Singh, general secretary of the organizing association, informed in a press conference on Monday made 10 players from India, 8 players each from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Maldives will participate.
4-4 male/female players from Nepal will compete. Sanyog Kapali, Ruvin Maharjan, Rajeev Chikambanjar and Gananjay Dahal will play in the men's category. Among the women are Bianka Rai, Ivana Thapa, Navita Shrestha and Yoongi Paudel. The main coach of the Nepali team is Mohandas Basukala, the coaches are Sanjiv Kumar Dhungol and Sandhya Shakya. The men's/women's teams who finish first in the
round robin league will qualify for the World Team Table Tennis Championship. The World Team Table Tennis Championship will be held in England in September next year.
If the first qualifying nation succeeds in being in the top 12 places in the Asian Team Table Tennis Championship to be held in Odisha, India from October 11 to 15, then the second South Asian qualifying nation will also be allowed to travel to the UK.
The president of the organizing association, Brijendra Bahadur Hamal, said that this tournament is one of the biggest tournaments in Nepali table tennis. Said to be one. According to the organizers, about 35 lakh 45 thousand will be spent to conduct the
competition. The two-day tournament will be played at the National Table Tennis Training Center in Lanchaur.
