The fourth Test between England and India at Old Trafford ended in a draw on Sunday. After England scored 669 runs, India was behind by 311 runs on the basis of the first innings.
India lost Yashshvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudarshan before opening their account at the start of the fourth day. But with centuries from captain Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja (pictured) and Washington Sundar, India reached 425-4. In this situation, both teams agreed to end the Test in a draw. Gill and KL Rahul shared an unbeaten partnership of 188 runs for the second wicket and Jadeja and Sundar shared an unbeaten partnership of 203 runs for the fifth wicket, India managed to save the Test. Had India lost this Test, England would have won the five-Test series 3-1.
England captain Ben Stokes was the player of the match. He scored 141 runs in England's innings and took 5 wickets with 72 runs in India's first innings. Stokes has become the third player after Gary Sobers of West Indies and Jacques Kallis of South Africa to score 7000 runs in Test cricket and take 200 wickets.
England's Joey Root scored 150 runs and surpassed former Australian captain Ricky Ponting to become the second highest run scorer in Test cricket.
