Four swimmers from Nepal are going to compete in the World Aquatic Championship to be held in Singapore. For that, the 6-member Nepalese team will go to Singapore on Friday night.
2-2 male/female players from Nepal will participate in the tournament. All four players will participate in the 2-2 competition.
In men, Irvin Shrestha will compete in 100m and 200m freestyle and Azalkaji Tamrakar will compete in 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly. On the women's side, Olympian Duvana Lama will compete in 200m freestyle and 100m breaststroke and Arya Maharjan will compete in 50m and 100m freestyle.
manager is Vikas Sharma, a member of the Nepal Swimming Association, and Shankar Karki is the coach. The
competition will run till August 3rd. According to Gangalal Gole, secretary of the Nepal Swimming Association, the games in Nepal will start only from July 27. Azal is scheduled to play 50m butterfly on July 27, Duwana will play 100m breaststroke on 28th and Ervin will play 200m freestyle and Duwana will play 200m freestyle on 29th. Irvin will compete in 100m freestyle on July 30, Arya will compete in 100m freestyle on 31st, Azal will compete in 50m freestyle on August 1 and Arya will compete in 50m freestyle on August 2. The
team was bid farewell by Rahep member-secretary Tanklal Ghising, swimming association president Jagatman Shrestha and others. President Jagatman Shrestha said that he expects at least 2 national records from the players. Chief coach Karki expressed his hope that this participation will also help in the preparation of the 20th Asian Games.
