Nepali National Women's Football Team captain Savitra Bhandari 'Samba' has been honored by Marsyangdi Rural Municipality of Lamjung. Similarly, Marsyangdi Rural Municipality Youth and Sports Development Committee, Amar Mavi Khudi and others have also honored.
The rural municipality honored Samba by organizing a program at the municipal center Bhulbhule on Thursday. Village Chairman Arjun Gurung said that the village council honored Savitra for her long-term contribution, international achievements and increasing the pride of the village.
Mersyangdi Rural Municipality-9, Simpani Pamchok Bamboo Boat House, Village Chairman Gurung, Vice Chairman Junamaya Thapa, Chief Administrative Officer Arjun Chapai, District Sports Development Committee Treasurer Ravi Thapa, Marsyangdi Youth and Sports Development Committee Chairman Khem Ghale, Amar Mavi Khudi Chairman Amrita Pokharel, Principal Teerth Bahadur Basnet and others garlanded her with garlands and certificates. In an interview with under-19 players and students in Marsyangdi Rural Municipality held on the occasion, Samba said that discipline, perseverance and determination will guide people successfully. "I still have a long way to go." I want to see more people playing football like me . The government should create an environment for this, she said.
Samba recently signed with New Zealand's Wellington Phoenix Football Club. The club signed her for the new season of Australian A-League Women's Football. Earlier, she played for France's En Avant Guengamp Club . She returned to Nepal 2 months ago after completing her journey with the club.
