California's San Francisco volleyball team has won the first edition of the NST Interstate Volleyball Cup. In the finals of the two-day tournament organized by the Nepali Society of Texas (NST) at the Image Volleyball Court in Grand Perry, Texas, San Francisco won the title by defeating the Ridgewood Nepali Society of New York in straight sets 3-0.

San Francisco, who won the title, received 8,000 US dollars. In the semi-finals, San Francisco beat Rukum 2-1 and New York beat Rukum West by 2-1. New York won 5,000 and Rukum West of Austin, Texas, who was third, received 2,000 US dollars.

Rukum West beat Austin's Tim Rukum by 3-0 sets. San Francisco's Deepak became the best player in the individual category. Laxman was adjudged the best blocker, Mahendra the best spiker and Gopal the best lifter. 16 teams participated in the

competition. Organizer NST president Rajendra Wagle said that the volleyball game was organized with the aim of promoting the Nepali community in sports and increasing brotherhood.

General Secretary of NST Vijay Bhusal said that Nepali community organizations are continuously active to build a civilized and organized society in migration through sports.
