The 24th World Individual Chess Championship for Persons with Physical Disabilities (IPCA) began in India on Monday.

Bishwavijay Ghimire of Nepal has participated in the tournament which will be held in Goa till July 31 under the auspices of the World Intellectual Federation under the auspices of the Physically Handicapped Chess Federation (CFPD) and the Goa Chess Association (GCASA).

Mechi municipality has provided financial support for his participation for 55 years. Nepal's arbiter Yagya Prasad Pant will be the judge in this world championship. This is the first participation of a Nepali arbiter as a judge in any World Championship.

97 players are participating in the World Championship of Physically Handicapped Athletes including Nepal, host India, Kazakhstan, China, Israel, France, Russia, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Mongolia, Philippines, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and others.
