Tirhut Tigers have won the seventh edition of Mayor Cup Saptari Pride League cricket title. Tirhut defeated Rajviraj Rajdevi Royal by 9 wickets in the final on Thursday at Public Vindeshwari Mavi ground.
Rajviraj won the toss and scored 92 runs in 20 overs losing 9 wickets. Rohan Bick scored 23 runs, Abhishek Tiwari scored 19 runs and Jitu Yadav scored 18 unbeaten runs. Other players could not score runs in double figures.
Shravan Yadav of Tirhut took 3 wickets. He spent 32 runs in 4 overs. Chitra Bahadur Bista and Anil Yadav took 2 each, Rahul Mandal and Ajay Yadav took 1 each.
Tirhut completed the normal target of 93 runs by 1 wicket in 15.3 overs. Opener Bhola Shah scored an unbeaten 79 off 45 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Neeraj Yadav scored 18 unbeaten runs and Abhinash Karn scored 13 runs. Rajviraj's Nitesh Yadav took 1 wicket.
Tirhut won the trophy with 2 lakh rupees in the league organized by Saptari Cricket Association with the help of Rajviraj Municipality. Runner-up Raj Viraj got one lakh. The Dewan of Rajviraj, the best player, was re-elected. He scored 101 runs in 4 matches and took 6 wickets. He was awarded 25 thousand rupees.
The best batsman was Bhola Shah of Tirhut. He scored 138 runs in 4 matches. The best bowler was Chitra Bahadur from Tirhut who took 13 wickets in 4 matches. Both were awarded 15,000. Secretary of the association Chandan Kumar Yadav said that 8 teams competed in the 8-day league.
