Sarila Shrestha, head of the Nepali women's national team, who played in the AFC Women's Asian Cup qualifiers in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, has claimed that the head coach Patrick de Wilde is to blame for the dispute over the captaincy.

Shrestha said at a press conference held at the ANFA headquarters in Satdobato of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), "The coach is responsible for the riots."

Shrestha, who is the head of delegates, claimed, "The problem has arisen because the coach did not decide who will be the captain even until the last minute." Earlier, head coach De Wilde had criticized ANFA and its management in an interview with Kantipur.

The coach also said that he would not return to Nepal if ANFA did not improve its work habits. He did not come to Nepal from Tashkent and returned directly to his country Belgium. In the press conference, Technical Director of ANFA, Hari Khadka insisted that although the right to choose the captain rests entirely with the coach, it should also be coordinated with the Football Association.

He said, 'Who will be made the captain depends on the coach. This is also the responsibility of the coach and for this, coordination with the association is also necessary. At the beginning, coach de Wilde criticized ANFA and the team management and the officials of the same team came out in response, the situation has become confusing.
