Youth and Sports Minister Tejulal Choudhary has said that the 10th National Sports Tournament could not be held due to the lack of suitable weather and poor physical infrastructure.
Answering a question about the ministry at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Minister Chaudhary said that the competition has been postponed keeping in mind the suggestions and information received from the stakeholders. He mentioned that the budget for the next financial year has been allocated for the competition and said that the competition will be conducted.
He said, 'The 10th National Sports Competition has been postponed in view of the suggestions and information of the relevant stakeholders as there is no suitable weather for building and upgrading physical infrastructure and conducting games in Surkhet and other places of Gandaki Province. He said that the government is also serious about the development and upgrading of various cricket stadiums across the country as we have allocated a budget for the tournament for the next financial year. He said that the budget has been allocated for the next financial year for programs such as building physical infrastructure, training players, etc. for the greater development of the game.
