Nepal Army Club has won the first ever National Women's Five A Side Indoor Hockey Tournament.
Army defeated Sudurpaschim Pradesh 2-0 in the final at Midvalley College in Bhaktapur on Saturday. In the semi-finals, Army defeated Koshi Province 6-0 and Sudurpaschim defeated Gandaki Province 2-1.
National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanklal Ghising gave the award to the winning player. The winner got a prize of Rs 50,000 and the runner-up got Rs 25,000. Ashika SK from Sudurpaschim Pradesh was the highest scorer in the
competition, scoring 8 goals. The player of the tournament was Army's Saraswati Tamang. Purnima Negi of Far West was chosen as the best defender, Kushma Ranamar of Army as the best goalkeeper and Sapna Tamang of Bagmati as the emerging player. Suvarna Shrestha, General Secretary of Nepal Hockey Association, said that the trophy was awarded to the best in the category.
