Australian Open champion American Madison Keys and Japanese star Naomi Osaka withdrew from Wimbledon tennis on Friday.
Sixth seed Maddison lost to Germany's Laura Sigmund in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
Before Madison, Japan's Osaka missed the opportunity to reach the fourth stage of Wimbledon tennis for the first time on Friday. She was defeated by world number 50 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia . Osaka was in a strong position after winning the first set 6-3 on Court 2, but eventually failed to reach the last 16. After that, Pavluchenkova came back 6-4, 6-4 in two consecutive sets to win the match.
The 27-year-old Osaka, a four-time Grand Slam champion, has not won a major since 2021.
The 34-year-old Pavluchenkova reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2016. The former French Open finalist hopes to follow that run this year.
American Amanda Anisimova won the match against Hungarian Dalva Galfi on Court No. 3 and traveled to the fourth round. The 13th ranked American won 6-3, 7-5, 6-3.
