The Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) has officially informed that 30 games have been registered for the 20th Asian Games to be held next year.

The Games registration deadline for the 2026 Asiad in Aichi/Nayoga, Japan was only until Monday (June 30). The NOC said that although they wrote to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Council on time through a press conference on Tuesday, no reply was received and they have sent a letter to all the national sports associations to participate in the belief that the players should not be deprived of playing in the Asiad.

NOC Secretary General Rajeev Shrestha said that 30 associations have sent letters for registration in consideration of the provisions in the Olympic Charter, National Sports Development Act 2077.

The list of 30 sports registered within the deadline set by the Olympic Council of Asia and local host Japan includes athletics, archery, badminton, basketball, boxing, breaking and dance sports, baseball and softball, rafting and canoeing, Kurans, cricket, cycling, e-sports, golf, hockey, judo, kabaddi, karate, modern pentathlon, rugby, There are skateboarding and skating, sport climbing, squash, soft tennis, swimming, tennis, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu.

After NOC held a press conference, the Ministry of Youth and Sports issued a statement and said that 31 games have been registered for the Japan Asiad. In the statement released by the Ministry, on the one hand, it says that no letter has been received from the tournament organizer for the registration of the official list, while on the other hand, it is mentioned that the list of 31 sports who want to participate in the tournament has been registered in the relevant body according to the rules.

Kamal Bhattarai, a board member of the National Sports Council, said that on the initiative of the Ministry of Sports, the game was registered to the Japan Organizing Committee via email and a reply was also received. He claimed that the ministry itself registered the list of games as it could not recognize the work of the Nepal Olympic Committee, which was declared illegal by the government.

There are 22 registered sports on both sides. Taekwondo, football, triathlon, gymnastics, fencing, shooting, handball, rowing and horse riding are only on the list of the ministry, while archery, breaking, baseball, rafting, Kurans, pentathlon, skateboard and climbing are not on the list of the ministry.

Meanwhile, the Nepal National and International Sports Association has said that the latest dispute between Rakhep and NOC has increased the possibility of the players being killed once again. In a statement issued by the president of the association, Deepak Shrestha, it has been mentioned that the situation of players being killed has once again raised serious questions about the legitimacy of the organizations and officials who are leading the sport.
