NOC is angry at the demand for action as the registration time for Asiad is running out

Nepal's participation in the Asian Games to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan in 2026 has become a question mark. The conflict between the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Sports Council and the Nepal Olympic Committee has pushed Nepal's participation into confusion.

Before that, the Youth Asian Games are being held in Bahrain in October this year. For that, Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) says that players must register for the games they will be participating in by June 30 (June 16), otherwise they will not be able to participate.

The NOC has said that it has all the rights to allow the Nepali team to participate internationally, recognized by the IOC, and the letter regarding the registration of the games to participate in the Asian Games has been sent to the National Sports Council.

A bitter situation arose between these three bodies of Nepali sports after the NOC elections held last December. Earlier on Thursday, officials of various associations affiliated to NOC had submitted a memorandum to the Ministry of Youth and Sports demanding action.

NOC has given serious attention to the said memorandum. "Demanding the official Olympic Committee to take action in the name of the so-called two-thirds of the association, not participating in the Nepali team in the international competition and the NOC is a conspiracy and an anti-Olympic campaign, said in a statement.

NOC has said that if the sports association is not registered on time, Nepalese athletes will be deprived from playing in the Asian Games and the training that the government has held for players of various sports for a long time as Mission 2026 will be useless. The NOC has warned that this will not only be a gross injustice to the players but also have a negative impact on the relationship between Nepal and Japan. In a statement issued by NOC President Jeevan Ram Shrestha, it is said, "The prime minister and the minister have seriously requested this matter.

According to the Sports Development Act of Nepal 2077 and the charter of the International Olympic Committee, there is a clear provision that only the National Sports Association recognized by the International Federation of Sports can be a legal member of the NOC. But ignoring those provisions, demanding action by non-recognized national associations is an anti-sports activity, the committee believes.

NOC said that submitting a memorandum demanding action while the case related to the election of the Olympic Committee is pending in the Patan High Court is a systematic move to interfere with the judiciary and drag the democratic government into controversy.

The NOC says that it is objectionable to try to distort the development of the sports sector, which is connected with the pride and prestige of the nation and the future of Nepali youth, on the whims and urges of any person.

Among the main officials of various associations involved in the Olympics, there is a division between the general secretary and the NOC, while the general secretary is the NOC and the president is divided. Ad hoc committee has been formed after disbanding some associations stating that they are involved in NOC elections.

Yuvraj Lama, the former member secretary of the National Sports Council, has commented that every person is involved in narrow politics in the problem of current sports through social media, and because of this, the sports sector is becoming complicated and problematic day by day.
