Nepali channel Kantipur Max is going to broadcast the prestigious tournament of Wimbledon live. Surajsingh Thakuri, COO of Kantipur Television, said that the live broadcast of Wimbledon tennis was taken as a historic achievement in bringing major international sports competitions to the homes of all Nepalis.
Kantipur Television gave information about the live broadcast of Wimbledon in a press conference at Hardrock Cafe on Darbarmarg on Thursday.

In the same perspective, COO Thakuri says that the initiative of Kantipur Max is an attempt to spread tennis among Nepali sports fans from far and wide by live broadcasting of Wimbledon. Kantipur Max has recently been establishing itself as a sports focused television channel. In the last one year, many national and international sports competitions have been telecasted live.
On the one hand, we have given equal importance to national sports competitions, on the other hand, we have not forgotten the popularity and prevalence of international competitions. Our aim is to advance the national and international competition in a balanced manner,'' the statement said.
It is said that during the two-week long live broadcast, before the start of the match, an analysis program will be held about it and there will be conversations with people related to tennis, including old and new players of Nepali tennis.
Nepal's top tennis players described the live broadcast of Wimbledon by Nepali television channel as a great achievement. Men's number one player Pradeep Khadka said, 'Wimbledon π on Nepali TV channel is a big thing for us, for that I would like to thank the Kantipur family who worked hard to bring Kantipur Max and live broadcast.'
Women's top ranked Abhilasha Bista also said that the live broadcast of Wimbledon will help in the promotion of tennis for the youth and new generation. She said that the live broadcast of Wimbledon on Kantipur TV will increase the interest that tennis is also being played and it will attract everyone. Number two ranked Sunira Thapa and number three ranked Shivali Gurung also said that the tennis game which is not getting popular in Nepal can benefit greatly from Wimbledon live broadcast.
President of Nepal Tennis Association and NOC Vice President Jyoti Rana said that Grand Slam is also a dream of Nepali players and said that the live broadcasting of a prestigious tournament like Wimbledon from Kantipur TV channel will indirectly benefit Nepali tennis.
It is said that efforts will also be made to show Wimbledon through a big screen in hotels, restaurants and cafes of Kathmandu Valley and other cities.
