The Lumbini state government has honored the players, coaches and managers who have won medals and awards for their outstanding performances in international competitions. 163 people including 148 players and 19 coaches were honored in a program in Rapti Valley (Deukhuri) on Wednesday.
Tirandaz Gautam, member secretary of the council, said that since the competition is an important means for the development, expansion and production of sports, the best performing players are honored and encouraged. 2000 per person has been awarded to the 8 players who achieved the second place in the World Cup Kho-Kho Tournament-2025.
The two coaches and managers of the game have been honored at the rate of 1 lakh per person. Gautam informed that a player who won a silver medal in South Asian karate competition was honored with 1 lakh rupees. In the single events of various sports categories of the 9th national sports competition, 5 gold medal winning players have been given 35 thousand rupees per person, 18 silver medal winners 20 thousand rupees per person and 46 bronze medal winners have been given 15 thousand rupees per person.
12 gold medal winners in the group event of the same competition were awarded 20,000 rupees per person, 36 silver medal winners in the group event were awarded 12,000 rupees per person and 12 bronze medal winners in the group event were honored with 8,000 rupees per person.
6 coaches of gold medal winning players in different sports categories of the ninth national sports competition have been given 15,000 personal, 8 coaches of silver medal winning players have been given 25,000 personal and 5 coaches of bronze medal winning players have been given 10,000 personal.
Member Secretary of Lumbini State Sports Council Gautam said that four players who participated in T-20 World Cup Netrahin Cricket Tournament were honored with 50,000 rupees per player.
