The Nepali National Women's Team was bid farewell to the AFC Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers on Monday.

The Nepali national team will go to Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Tuesday. Nepal is group 'F'.  Nepal will compete with Laos and Sri Lanka along with home team Uzbekistan. The group winners will get to play in the 2026 Asian Cup in Australia.

Hari Prasad Lamsal, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Pankaj Vikram Nemwang, President of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and others wished the team a great success. Secretary Lamsal reminded that the women athletes are performing well despite the limited resources and means, and wished them to hoist the flag of the nation by performing even higher this year.

ANFA president Nemwang said that more is expected from the trip of the women's team this time. He said, "We also have players who have experience in European leagues in our team and the team has experienced coaches from Europe." Because of that, we have high expectations this year. I have full confidence that you will be successful in that.

The Nepali women's team will go to Tashkent to play the Asian Cup

The Nepali team under the training of foreign coach Patrick de Wilde will play the first qualifying match against Laos on June 15. After that, Nepal has a match against Sri Lanka on June 18 and Uzbekistan on June 21.

Nepali women's team has not played against Laos before. Nepal won all 8 matches played against Sri Lanka and lost all three matches played against Uzbekistan.

The Nepali women's team, which last played in the Women's Asian Cup in 1999, is aiming to qualify for the Asia Cup after 26 years. The Nepali women's team has played three times in the Asian Cup. Nepal did not qualify even though they played last time in 2022.
