The first edition of the Bagmati Women's Rugby Tournament will be held on June 8 and 9.
The rugby tournament organized by Nepal Rugby Association and under the management of Bagmati Province Rugby Association for the first time will be held at Sukute beach in Sindhupalchok. Deepak Adhikari, spokesperson and treasurer of the
association, said that the competition will be held on the occasion of International Olympic Day (June 23). 6 teams will participate in the tournament with the support of Bagmati Province Sports Development Council and National Sports Council. Six teams from Karnali, Bagmati and Madhesh provinces and national level Gorkhali Rugby Club, Nepal Women's Rugby Club and Sindhupalchok Rugby Club will participate in the
competition. Binu Khadka, president of the Bagmati Province Rugby Association, said that there will be six players in each team. 5 players from one team can enter the competition. Running the
competition will cost 1.3 million rupees. Alyssa Thapa, Head of Women's Department of Rugby, said that according to Asia Rugby's Building a Greener Future through Rugby, one sapling will be planted for each tribe in keeping with the concept of 'A Tribe, A Tree'. National player Sriram Thapa said that the tournament was organized with priority given to junior players.
