Nepal has secured the fifth position in the Billie Jean King Cup Tennis held in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Friday. In the playoffs, Nepal defeated Tajikistan 2-1 and finished fifth, according to team official Ajay Bisht. Tajikistan finished sixth.
In the opening set of the first singles, Sumaya Tukhteva beat Nepal's Swastika Bista 7-5. After that, the swastika became a 'retired heart'.
In the second singles, Nepal's Sunira Thapa defeated Anisha Yakhyeva 7-5, 6-2. In doubles, the pair of Sunira and Abhilasha Bista defeated the pair of Saiora Rajabaliva and Sumaya 6-3, 6-1.
