Nepal has been defeated in the third and final match of the group stage of the Billie Jean King Cup tennis being held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Nepal, which is in Group B, lost 3-0 to Sri Lanka on Thursday.
In singles, Akisa Hirundi Silva Diyunuge defeated Nepal's Shivali Gurung 7-6, 7-6 and Dinara De Silva defeated Nepal's Abhilasha Bista 6-4, 6-2. In doubles, the pair of Tuvini D Alvis and Jayavira defeated the pair of Shivali and Abhilasha in a set of 6-4, 1-6, 10-6.
Earlier, Nepal defeated Myanmar 2-1 in the first match of the group stage and Qatar 3-0 in the second match. According to the Nepal Tennis Association, Nepal will now play against Tajikistan for the fifth place playoff.
