Amateur golfer Rahul Vishwakarma took the lead alone on the third day of the Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship on Wednesday.
With an overall score of 16 under 200 at the Gokarna Golf Course on Wednesday, Rahul surpassed former winner and Indian golf tour player Subas Tamang by one stroke. Rahul scored a 6-under 66 on Wednesday.
Suwas, who took the early lead, scored a bogey-free 5-under 67. Overall, he has a score of 15 under 201. Amateur Sadabhav Acharya carded a 5-under 67 on Wednesday. He is third overall with a score of 13 under 203. On Tuesday, Sadbhav and Rahul made a joint lead.
Neeraj Tamang and Bhuvan Nagarkoti are joint fourth with a score of 11 under 205. Bhuvan shot the day's best score of 8-under 64. Neeraj shot 4 under 68. Bhutan's Nimdorjee Tamang is sixth overall with 8-under 208. He shot a 2-under 70 on Wednesday. He is in third place in the amateur category. Suwas, who played 3 under 33 on the front nine and 2 under 34 on the back nine, got birdies on the third, fourth, ninth, 12th and 13th holes. The highest prize of 1.6 million will be awarded in the four-day tournament organized by the Nepal Professional Golfers Association. The winner will get Rs 3 lakh, the second runner-up Rs 1 lakh 85 thousand, the third runner-up Rs 1 lakh 25 thousand, the fourth runner-up Rs 1 lakh 5 thousand and the fifth runner-up Rs 92 thousand. All pro golfers who finish in the top 21 will receive cash prizes.
