A year ago, on this day, the Nepali cricket team was playing in the Twenty-20 World Cup against Bangladesh in St. Vincent, West Indies. Nepal is hoping to reach the Twenty20 World Cup for the second time in a row and the third time overall. Nepal is preparing for this by playing a tri-national Twenty20 series in Scotland.

The Netherlands and Scotland competed in the first match of the tournament which started on Sunday. Nepal will start the tournament by playing against the Netherlands on Monday. Three teams will compete against each other in a double round robin and the team with the most points will be the winner.

The Asia-East Asia Pacific region World Cup qualifiers are being held in Oman from October 8 to 17. Along with Nepal, Oman, UAE, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Qatar, Samoa will compete in this qualifier and the top three teams will qualify for the Twenty20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka next year.

Nepal's trip to prepare for Oman's Twenty20 World Cup qualifiers will start from Glasgow's Teetwood Cricket Ground. At present, when there is a monsoon in the country, Nepal's main preparations will be abroad.

There is also a possibility that the Nepali team will go to Australia and play with the provincial team there after returning home from Scotland. Apart from that, Nepal will play three Twenty-20 international series against West Indies in Sharjah, UAE on September 27, 28, 30 and from here the Nepali team will reach Oman to play the Twenty-20 World Cup Qualifiers starting a week later.

The Nepali team, which performed well in the World Cup Cricket League-2 last week, has arrived in Glasgow from Dundee. Nepal scored 5 wickets and 16 runs in both the matches against the Netherlands during the sensational result in Dundee. With Scotland, Nepal had a victory in 1 match and a defeat in the other.

After playing the first 3 matches of League 2 in Dundee, Sompal Kami and Gulshan Jha, who were injured, have returned to Nepal. Lokesh Bam, Kiran Thagunna and Rupesh Singh, who have already been included in Nepal's Twenty20 team, have come to Glasgow. All-rounder Kiran arrived in Hong Kong as a substitute last month but was unable to play. But when the main all-rounders of the Nepali team, Sompal and Gulshan, are out of the team, there is a strong possibility that Kiran will make his debut.

Opening batsman Lokesh will have to compete with Kushal Bhurtel, Asif Sheikh and Anil Saha to play in the playing XI. Batting all-rounder Rupesh, who started his journey to List 'A' by playing against Ireland 'A' in Kirtipur last year, is yet to make his 'debut' in Twenty20 internationals.

In the last match of League 2, Nandan Yadav made a memorable 'debut' in one-day internationals against the Netherlands in Dundee. He will handle Nepal's bowling front in Twenty20 internationals along with Karan KC. A few players have also been changed in the Netherlands team, which had a disappointing performance in Ligue 2. Devrehate all-rounders Daniel Dorram and Ben Fletcher and leg-break bowler Saqib Zulfikar have been added to the squad.

Glasgow is an area with a dense Nepalese population. Many Nepalis here are connected with restaurant and hotel business. After the busy days of Saturday and Sunday, it is believed that a large number of Nepali spectators will come to the match with the Netherlands as the restaurant and hotel areas are on holiday on Monday. With two of Dundee's four matches on Sunday and Monday, Nepal's match had a good attendance. The ticket price for each match of the Twenty20 series is kept at 20 pounds.

League-2 was an ICC live event on Rohbar. This Twenty-20 series is going to be organized by Scotland Cricket itself. But Nepali supporters have complained that it is expensive to watch on television and live streaming in the UK.

8.99 pounds for one match of Twenty-20 series, 26.97 pounds for four matches of their country team and 39.99 pounds for all 6 matches of the tournament, which Nepali supporters have complained is more expensive than the monthly rate set when the major tournament comes on television channels including Sky Sports and BT.
