Jaysnu Maharjan of Kirtipur Municipality and Arnav Shrestha of Kathmandu Metropolitan City 26 have won gold medals in table tennis under Kathmandu district wide sports.

Jayasnu defeated Ujjwal Manandhar of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward 2 in a set of 6-11, 11-4, 11-4, 11-8 in the U-16 final at the National Table Tennis Training Center in Lainchour on Monday. Safal Maharjan of Kirtipur and Aryan Shahi of Ward 26 won bronze.

In the U-14 final, Arnav defeated Nischal Thapa of Ward 1 in a set of 11-2, 9-11, 11-7, 5-11, 12-10. Nirav Maharjan of Ward 17 and Shambhuraj Vant of Ward 26 came third. Umesh Manandhar of Kamanpa Ward 2 became the winner in the men's singles category over 40 years old in the tournament organized by Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward 26. He defeated Chandan Shahi of Ward 26 by 13-11, 9-11, 12-10, 11-7 in the final. Sudhir Maharjan and Jairam Maharjan from Kirtipur came third. Riansh Shrestha from Ward 25 was declared the best player in the competition.

Earlier Prajna Maharjan of Kamanpa Ward 17 in U-16 Girls Singles, Anshu Khanal of Ward 11 in U-14 Girls Singles, Indira Parajuli of Ward 29 in Veteran Women Singles over 40, Kritan Shrestha of Ward 30 in U-12 Boys Singles and Yamila Shrestha of Ward 16 in U-12 Girls Singles won gold.

In all competitions, the first prize was Rs. 10,000, the second prize was Rs. 5,000 and the third prize was Rs. 2,500. The winner was awarded by the chairman of the organizing ward 26 Khyamraj Tiwari, competition coordinator Pravesh Shrestha, table tennis head coach Mohandas Basukala and others.   In

futsal, the host Ward 26 has reached the quarterfinals. The host beat Ward 17 by 3-0 at the Lainchour ground. Sajan Shahi was Man of the Match. Ward 17 beat Ward 30 in a tiebreaker and made it to the quarterfinals.
