Highest Amount Surya Nepal Premier Golf from Monday

Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship, the tournament with the highest prize money, will start on Monday at Gokarna Golf Club.

The tournament, which will last until June 5, will have 72 holes. There is a rule that the cut is applied after 36 holes. The top 21 professional players who made the cut and the amateur players who made the same score will make the place for the last two rounds, said Deepak Acharya, general secretary of the organizer Nepal Professional Golfers Association.

This is the last tournament of Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2024-25 season. In the tournament, 37 professional golfers  They will compete for the highest prize money of 1.6 million. 18 best amateur players will also participate in the tournament. The

winner will win a prize of Rs 3 lakh. 185,000 for the second, 125,000 for the third, 150,000 for the fourth  And the fifth place player will win 92 thousand rupees. All the top 21 players will be eligible for cash prizes.

Neeraj Tamang, who won three titles and won 742 thousand 500 awards, is ahead in this season's 'Order of Merit'. Toran Shahi (4 lakh 9 thousand 500) is second and Bhuvan Nagarkoti (3 lakh 64 thousand 500) is in third place. Neeraj, who is in the race to become the number one pro, won the Surya Nepal Eastern Open, Western Open and Match Play titles. Acharya said that Shukra Bahadur Rai and Subas Tamang who are playing professional golf tour in India are also expected to perform well. On the amateur side, Sadbhav Acharya and Rahul Vishwakarma, who won the title this season, Bhutan's top amateur Nimdorjee Tamang are expected to give tough competition to the pro golfers. 

After the four-day tournament, the Pro-Am tournament will be held on June 7. Where 25 professional and 100 corporate level amateur players will participate.

President of Nepal Professional Golfers Association Rabindraman Shrestha said that the last tournament of the season will be held with the biggest prize money in the history of Nepali golf. He said, 'The players are enthusiastic, they are eager to finish the season successfully.'

He expressed his gratitude to the main sponsor Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd for their continuous support in the development of Nepali golf. Chairman Shrestha complained that even though golf would contribute to the economic development of the country through the tourism sector, the government could not think of investing in golf courses.
