Table tennis gold to Prajna and Anshu

Prajna Maharjan of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-17 and Anshu Khanal of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-11 have won gold medals in table tennis as part of Kathmandu district wide sports. Prajna won the Girls U-16 and Anshu U-14.

Prajna defeated Michuli Maharjan of Kirtipur municipality by 11-8, 11-8, 11-8 in the U-16 final at the National Table Tennis Training Center in Lainchour. Vidisha Mainali of Kamanpa 6 and Srishti Budhathoki of Tarkeshwar Municipality came third.

Anshu defeated Tarkeshwar's Smriti Gurung in straight sets 11-6, 11-3, 11-8 in the U-14 final of the tournament organized by Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward 26. Paridi Basnet of Kamanpa 7 and Daisy Maharjan of Kirtipur came third.

Kritan Shrestha of Kamanpa 30 won gold in U-12 boys singles. Kritan defeated Savik Dangol of Kamanpa 21 in the final with 11-7, 8-11, 11-4, 11-4 sets. Reyansh Shrestha of Kamanpa 25 and Daniel Maharjan of Kamanpa 26 won bronze. In the same category of girls, Yamila Shrestha of Kamanpa 16 won the gold after defeating Tara Tamang of Kamanpa 26 in straight sets 11-5, 11-3, 11-3. Sadiksha Tamang and Nerisa Tamang of Kamanpa 26 won bronze. 100 players are participating in

8 competitions. The total prize money is 160,000. The official opening of the grand sports including table tennis, futsal, taekwondo, karate and kyokushin karate will be held on Sunday at Lanchaur ground.
