The third edition of the Gandaki state-level men's T-20 cricket tournament has started in Pokhara. Organized by Provincial Cricket Association Gandaki, the tournament started on Saturday at the cricket ground in Pokhara Stadium. The competition was inaugurated by Minister of Social Development, Youth and Sports of Gandaki Province Vindukumar Thapa.
In the opening match, Syangja won by 6 wickets against Myagdi. Chasing a target of 89 runs, Syangja scored 93 runs with the loss of 4 wickets in 12.4 overs. Ishwar Kshetri scored 39 runs for Syangja. He hit 5 fours and 2 sixes in 18 balls. Karan Pangeni remained not out for 23 runs, Ashwini Rana for 20 runs. Hari Subedi and Sagar Katuwal took 2 wickets each for Myagdi. After winning the
toss, Myagdi started batting first and ended up with 88 runs in 18.5 overs. Roshan Karki scored the highest 27 runs for Myagdi. Dinesh Chhetri scored 24 and Sagar Katuwal added 20 runs. Other batsmen could not last.
Syangja's Karan Pangeni and Sujan Gautam bowled brilliantly. Both took 3-3 wickets. Tulsiram Bhandari and Ankit Neupane took 1 wicket each.
In the second match, Tanahun defeated Baglung by 10 runs. Tanahun, who won the toss and started batting, scored 134 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Vansh Chhetri remained unbeaten on 70 runs for Tanahun. He hit 8 fours and 1 six in 54 balls and led the team to a competitive score. Supreme Sunar added 19 runs, Naresh Shahi 14 and Sameer Kandel 10 runs. Vishwa Karki of Baglung took 3 wickets, Ashwin Thapa and Sanchar Niure got 2 wickets each.
After chasing a target of 135 runs, Baglung started batting in response and ended up with 124 runs after losing 6 wickets. Vivek Nepali of Baglung scored 37 runs in 49 balls and remained not out. Aras Tamang scored 19, Chandradeep Yadav scored 17 and Sahil Swarnakar scored 19.
Tanahun's Vansh Chhetri's performance was also excellent in terms of bowling. He took 2 wickets. Chandrakant Paudel took 2 wickets while Sandeep Parajuli and Krish Iyer took 1 each. The
competition has been divided into two groups. Group 'A' has Syangja, Baglung, Tanahun and Myagdi while Group 'B' has Kaski, Nawalpur, Parbat and Gorkha. Association president Sanjay Kant Sigdel informed that the schedule has been fixed so that two matches will be played every day. On Sunday, there will be a match between Myagdi and Tanahun and Baglung and Syangja. The winner of the
competition will receive 1 lakh, the runner-up will receive 50 thousand rupees, trophy, medal and certificate. Similarly, the best player will be awarded 4,000, the best batsman, bowler and emerging player will be awarded with 2,000 each.
