Madhesh Pradesh has won the student cricket title under U-14 National School Sports. Madhesh defeated Lumbini Pradesh by 6 wickets in the final held at Upper Moolpani Cricket Ground on Thursday.
Madhesh completed the target of 51 runs given by Lumbini by losing 4 wickets in 9.1 overs. For Madhesh, Tahir Ansari scored 13 runs and Rahul Paswan scored 12 runs. Suraj Yadav and captain Sandeep Thapa took 2 wickets each for Lumbini.
Before that, Lumbini, who lost the toss and was invited to bat first, scored 51 runs in 18.5 overs. Lumbini's Aaronjung Giri scored an unbeaten 29 and John Oli added 11 runs. Krishna Mahato of Madhesh took 3 wickets, Khilraj Sarraf and captain Kamlesh Das took 2 each and Mohammad Ojaif Ali took 1 wicket.
The winner was awarded by the member-secretary of the National Sports Council (Rakhep) Tanklal Ghising and others. Student cricket is the last tournament under the U-14 National Games organized by Rakhep. In school sports, along with cricket, athletics, rugby, badminton, table tennis and basketball competitions were held.
