Another win for Nepal over Netherlands

After Nandan Yadav made a memorable 'debut' in the One Day International, Nepal defeated the Netherlands by 16 runs in the World Cup Cricket League-2 on Tuesday. Right-arm fast bowlers Nandan and Sandeep Lamichhane took 3 wickets each to give Nepal another historic victory in their tour of Scotland.

The Netherlands, who entered the field with a target of 237 runs, were bowled out for 220 runs in 49.2 overs at Fort Hill in Dundee. Nepal has made the visit to Scotland memorable by winning 3 out of 4 matches in this League-2 series. It has equaled its record of Nepal's best performance in foreign land.

Even in 2023, Nepal won 3 out of 4 matches in the UAE tour. In 16 games, Nepal has 12 points and is in the seventh place . This is the fourth consecutive defeat of the Netherlands in League 2. However, the team is in second place with 26 points in 23 matches. The top four teams of the eight-nation League-2 will qualify for the World Cup.

Yadav gave Nepal a good start by dismissing Max O Dodd for 4 runs in the fourth over. Another opener Michael Levitt scored 27 runs off 27 balls with 3 fours and 1 six. Another win for Nepal over Netherlands

Nepal came close to victory after Nandan dismissed Roelof van der Merby and Kyle Klein in one over. Van der Merby scored 16 off 22 balls and Klein scored 25 off 46 balls. Both hit the same 1 sixes . When the Netherlands needed 18 runs in the last over for victory, Karan Casey dismissed Paul Van Meekeren and gave Nepal the win. Another win for Nepal over Netherlands

Earlier, after losing the toss with the help of Arif Sheikh's half-century, Nepal was invited to bat and scored 236 runs after losing 9 wickets after playing the scheduled 50 overs. But due to Arif running twice in the danger zone during the game, after the on-field umpires imposed 10 penalty runs on Nepal, when the Netherlands started batting, the team had 10 runs directly in their account .

This is also Arif's personal highest score in ODIs . Arif scored his second half-century in the ongoing series in Scotland. In the first match against the Netherlands, Arif scored 78 runs, which was his previous personal high.

Player of the match Arif played 84 balls and scored 82 runs by hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes. Nandan scored 10 runs in 12 balls and remained unbeaten. Sandeep was run out for 2 runs in the last ball of the innings while trying to get 2 runs.

Nepal did not start well. Kushal Bhurtel, who hit two fours, scored 18 runs off 19 balls and was bowled for the inside edge by Paul Van Meekeren. Anil Shah, who was brought in place of Asif Sheikh, could score only 2 runs in 16 balls. Another win for Nepal over Netherlands

Mikkeren took 4 wickets with 58 runs in 10 overs and Levitt took 3 wickets with 49 runs in 10 overs. Another win for Nepal over Netherlands

Sompal Kami and Gulshan Jha did not play due to injuries from Nepal. Sompal was injured by a bouncer ball while batting in the match against Scotland. Gulshan has injured his knee. Both of them will also miss the tri-nation Twenty20 series starting next week in Glasgow. Nandan and Basir were played in place of Sompal and Gulshan.
