Nepal Police Club has started victoriously in the Prachanda Cup National Women's Volleyball Tournament in Pokhara on Tuesday. In the opening match at the Covered Hall in Pokhara Stadium, Police defeated the departmental rival APF Club in straight sets by 3-0.
The first set of the match was very competitive. The police won 25-22 in their favor. In the second set, APF took an 18-15 lead but could not maintain it. At the last moment, the Police caught a fast rhythm and took the set 27-25 in their favor and took a 2-0 lead. In the third and last set, the police gained complete control and easily won 25-17.
Police won the title of PM Cup NVA League Volleyball held on May 15 in Pokhara.
In the second match on Tuesday, Tiptop New Diamond Sports Club defeated Everest Volleyball Club in a set of 25-11, 25-18, 25-10. On Wednesday, Police will play against Step Rampur Club in the round robin league competition. New Diamond and Gandaki Pradesh will meet in the next match.
National Sports Academy and All Nepal Sports Federation organized the competition, this time a new team Step Rampur has been included. The organizers gave the opportunity to Rampur after the Army informed that they could not participate in the competition. Inaugurating the
competition, former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that sports will play a positive role in national unity, discipline and youth development. He expressed his belief that this kind of competition will reveal new talent in the field of sports and help in empowering women. In the
competition, Police, APF, Gandaki Pradesh, New Diamond, Everest and Step Rampur will compete for the title. The winner will get Rs 6 lakh, the runner-up will get Rs 3 lakh and the third will get Rs 1 lakh. The best players of the competition will receive 30,000 rupees and the best in various categories will receive 20,000 rupees each.
