Everest and Manakamana Youth Club have won the title of Deputy Mayor Cup Open Knockout Volleyball Tournament held at Tilottama in Rupandehi.
In the final competition held on Saturday, Everest Secondary School won the title among the 7 teams participating in the women's side. He defeated Kunwarwarti English Boarding School in sets of 25-22, 25-20, 25-15. Similarly, Mankamana Yuva Club Suddhodhan defeated Janjyoti Club 34-32, 15-8 in the men's side.
Both teams who won the first place received trophies, medals and certificates along with 60,000 rupees. Similarly, Kunwar Varti and Janjyoti Club who came second won 40,000 rupees, medals and certificates. In the women's game, St. Joseph's English Boarding School won the third place and won 20,000. On the men's side, Manimukund Volleyball Club became third. In the
competition, players from Janjyoti Boarding School for women and New Horizon for men received consolation positions and received 10,000 rupees. The best performing players in the game were also honored with cash. Dhan Bahadur Thapa of Mankamana became the best defender on the men's side. Lalit Thakuri won the West Server title. Likewise, West Setter Chitra Bahadur Thapa of Mankamana, West Spiker Wisan Ranpal of the same club and Deep Sunar of Mankamana won the title of disciplined player. Janjyoti's Sugam V won the West Blocker title. The club's player Suchal Vick became the emerging player, while Adalat Chaudhary of Mankamana was awarded the best player. On the men's side, Jupendra Tharu of Manakamana became the best coach.
Bharti Vick of Kunwarvarti became the best server on the women's side. Durga Gaha of the same school won the West Defender title and Saru Nepali won the Best Setter title. Everest's Nisha Choudhary won the Best Spiker, Ritu Pun the Disciplined Player, Vinita Rana the Emerging Player And Meena Sunar bagged the award as the best player while Ruchi Thapa of Kunwarwarti won the West Blocker award. Everest's Arjun Ghimire won the West Coach Award in the match.
Tilottma Municipality Chief Ramkrishna Khan while awarding prizes to competing athletes said that the investment made by the municipality in the field of sports has progressed to produce athletes and make the name of the city known throughout the country. He said that since Pali is known through sports, he is facilitating with schools and clubs by managing the field, learning materials, and coaches for the players.
Deputy Head Jageshwadevi Chaudhary said that although there was some delay in completing the game which was to be done in the winter season, it was a matter of happiness that the players showed interest and participated. She said that by this they understand that the players are looking for opportunities for the game and said that the competition was organized to encourage the sports sector by making the presence of players from all over the district. She said that she will allocate more money in the upcoming budget and start developing the game. Speaking at the
event, Chief Administrative Officer Narayan Aryal said that the Municipality has set an open field in every ward to produce athletes in every category. He said that if this issue can be included in the upcoming budget, Tilottma, which is becoming excellent in every field, will not take time to prove itself as the best in sports. He said that the development of sports is necessary because the children and youth of today understand that something can be achieved through sports.
Lok Pun, the coordinator of Tilottma City Sports Development Date, said that the investment in sports such as volleyball, football, cricket, badminton, and karate shows that good players are staying in the municipality. He said that he and the officials of the committee will encourage these players to create an environment for new players to play.
As this is the third edition of Vice Mayor Cup Knockout Open Volleyball, Everest Secondary School, which has won the title for 3 consecutive years, has also won the Running Shield.
