American player Coco Gough won the French Open tennis women's singles title on Saturday. In the process, she defeated Belarusian number one Aryan Sabalenka in three sets in a tumultuous final at Roland Garros.

The 21-year-old Gauff has produced a brilliant comeback since losing the first set. She won the match 6–7 (7/5), 6–2, 6–4. After dropping the first set, Goff regained her rhythm. This is the first time he has won the French Open title. This is the second time Gauff has won the Grand Slam title overall.

Earlier she won the US Open in 2023. At that time, Gauff defeated 27-year-old Sabalenka in the final. In 2022, Gauff made her first trip to the French Open final. However, she lost to the then number one player Iga Swatek of Poland in the title fight. Swatek won the French Open three years in a row to complete a hat-trick of titles. She was also the winner of Swatek 2020.

The 27-year-old Sabalenka lost in the Australian Open final in January. She missed her second consecutive Grand Slam final. Sabalenka, who won the US Open last year, won the Australian Open consecutively in 2023 and 2024. Out of the four Grand Slams, she was aiming to make three Grand Slam history by winning the French Open.
