Uzbekistan and Jordan have qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Both countries are new to the World Cup.
Uzbekistan qualified for the World Cup by finishing second in Group A after a goalless draw with UAE in the World Cup Asia Qualifiers. From this group, Iran has been selected as the top. Iran scored 20 points from 9 matches while Uzbekistan scored 18 points from 9 matches. UAE is third with 14 points and Qatar is fourth with 13 points.
In the third stage, 18 teams from Asia are divided into three groups. The top two teams from each group will advance directly to the World Cup. The 3rd and 4th place teams have to play in the playoffs. In Group A, Kyrgyzstan has 7 points and North Korea has 3 points.
Jordan reached the World Cup after finishing second in Group B. Jordan defeated Oman 3-0. Jordan was also selected after South Korea beat Iraq 2-0 to secure their place in the World Cup. South Korea with 19 and Jordan with 16 points were the first two places. Iraq is third with 12 points and Oman is fourth with 10 points. Palestine was ranked fifth and sixth with 9 points and Kuwait with 5 points.
Japan has confirmed its place in the World Cup from Group C. Japan has 20 points from 9 matches. Australia beat Japan 1-0 to close their World Cup qualifying journey. Australia has 16 points. Close rivals Saudi Arabia are third with 13 points. Next week's match between Australia and Saudi Arabia will decide the second team from the group. In Group C, Indonesia has 12 points, while Bahrain and China have 6 points each.
2026 World Cup will be held in three nations America, Mexico, Canada. These three are directly selected. Apart from that, Argentina from South America and New Zealand from Oceania have made it to the World Cup.
