The 15th President's Running Shield competition at Lumbini state level has started from Friday at Beljhundi Stadium in Dang. Thirandaj Gautam, member secretary of the Lumbini Sports Council, said that athletes from 11 districts of the state participated in the three-day competition.

He informed that players from all districts except Rolpa district participated in the competition. Gautam said that more than 1,300 players, coaches and officials from 11 districts of Lumbini province participated in the competition. The

competition was inaugurated by Sita Chaudhary, Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation of Lumbini Province. Expressing her opening speech, she said that along with the development of sports, the competition will play an important role in disciplining the youth. Tulsipur Deputy Metropolitan Municipality Chief Tikaram Khadka said that all three levels of government are playing a role in the development of the game.

The state-level President's Running Shield competition includes six categories of competitions, including women-men in volleyball, women-men in kabaddi, athletics and martial arts in wushu, karate and taekwondo. Players studying up to class 12 or below 18 years of age have participated in the competition.

The schedule has been prepared so that all athletics matches will be held at Beljhundi Stadium, Usu and Karate matches at Om Shanti Skate Park in Tulsipur and Taekwondo matches at the Pradesh Taekwondo Hall Krishna Mandir.

kabaddi tournament  Tulsipur-based Sanskar Pathshala and volleyball matches will be held at Arani ground. Players who have competed in the district through the municipality and who have performed well in the state-level competition through the district will be allowed to participate in the competition to be held at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu on June 28, 29 and 30.
