Times Basketball Club and Royal won the Himalayan Java Basketball League (HJBL) on Tuesday.
Times defeated Samakhusi Youth Club with a score of 97-73 at Kirtipur Covered Hall. After the win, the Times, who have collected 15 points from 9 games, are determined to reach the finals.
Goldengate Basketball Club and Hounds Academy, who played one game less, also have 15 points. Goldengate and Hounds have 2 games left to play.
Times took the lead by putting pressure on Samakhushi in all four quarters. The Times won by 20-15, 28-24, 23-21, 25-13. Sadish Pradhan of Times scored 33 points. Samakhushi's Prajwal Maharjan added 21 scores. Manish KC of The Times was selected as the Most Valuable Player. The Times will play the last game against the Hounds.
In the second match, Royal defeated Kirtipur with a score of 99-96. Kirtipur led 26-25 in the first quarter. However, Royal came back in the second quarter and won 28-21. In the third quarter, Royal scored 20-17, but in the fourth quarter, Kirtipur took a lead of 32-26, but could not avoid defeat. When the score was 96-96, Sujan Maharjan of Royal won the game by scoring three points.
Royal's Sujan Maharjan became the most valuable player. Prasannadhwaj Maskey scored 31 for Royal. Kirtipur's Nischal Maharjan added 33 scores.
