Damakada Brothers Palpa won the title of the third New Youth Union Cup open football tournament. He beat Bhagwati Yuva Club Tansen 6-5 in the penalty shootout and won the title.
Tansen had to resort to penalties after the match ended in a goalless draw at the Tundikhel ground. In the competition organized by the New Youth Union Club of Tansen, Damkada won the title and received a trophy, medal and certificate along with 1 lakh 11 thousand 111 rupees in cash.
Bhagwati Youth, who became the runner-up, got a trophy, medal and certificate along with 55 thousand 555 rupees. Anuj Gayre of Damakada Brothers who won the final was the player of the match.
Palpa Chief District Officer Toynarayan Subedi, Police Superintendent Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, Tansen Municipality Spokesperson Yadavsingh Karki, New Youth Union Club President Tam Bahadur Kumal and others distributed cash, trophies, medals and certificates to the winning players. Sujan Singjali from Damkada was the best goalkeeper in the competition in which 12 teams participated.
Sumit Mallah of Bhagwati Yuva became the best defender throughout the tournament while Lem Bahadur Darlami of Palpa Football Academy became the emerging player. Suraj Chaudhary of Bhagwati was the top scorer of the tournament. Ashish Rana, the captain of Damakada Brothers, has been awarded the best player award during the tournament. Farsatikat Youth Club, Manobhav Football Club, Sampur Yuva Club and Yong Bays Football Club from Rupandehi participated in the
competition.
Apart from this, Palpa's Sarai Football Club Kaseni Mathagadi, Jyotipunj Youth Club Rampur, Bhagwati Youth Club Tansen, New Himali Youth Club Chilangdi Bagnaskali, Palpa Football Academy Tansen, Damakada Brothers, New Youth Union Tansen participated. Palpa District Football Association provided technical assistance in the tournament, which is sponsored by Tansen Municipality.
