Memorable moments of Nepal with Scotland

The Nepali National Cricket Team has come to Dundee on the mission of the World Cup Cricket League-2 series. Nepal will play 2-2 matches against Scotland and Netherlands in League-2 starting on Tuesday. This is the fourth series in Nepal League-2. This is the third time Nepali team has come to play cricket in Scotland. Some of the memorable matches played by Nepal against Scotland are as follows:

The energy given by Anil's century

Air (July 29, 2015)

Nepal played two matches against Scotland in the World Cricket League Championship after a disappointing performance in the Twenty-20 World Cup Qualifiers in Scotland and Northern Ireland. It was not so easy for Nepal to play in local Scottish conditions. In a match shortened to 36 overs due to rain, Scotland made 235 runs with the loss of 7 wickets for captain Preston Mommsen's 78 runs. After Con de Lange scored an unbeaten 55 off 41 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes, Scotland became stronger.

Despite losing Mahesh Chhetri for 21 and Gyanendra Malla for 18 runs, Nepal came close to victory after the incredible batting of Anil Mandal and captain Paras Khadka. Paras scored 70 runs off 55 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. He and Sharad Bheshavkar were dismissed in successive balls. Anil scored 100 runs. For that he hit 9 fours and 1 six in 93 balls. But after failing to score 25 runs in the last 2 overs, Nepal had to suffer a 3 run defeat. Nepal lost 5 wickets and scored only 232 runs. Anil's first century as a Nepali player in the World Cricket League Championship became a source of confidence for other Nepali players.

Historic win on Scottish soil

Glasgow (July 13, 2022)

Nepalese bowlers were completely dominant against Scotland, the top team of the associate nation. After Sompal Kami and Mohammad Adil Alam took 3 wickets each, Scotland had lost 9 wickets when they scored 95 runs in 30 overs. Gavin Main scored 64 runs off 59 balls with 7 fours and 1 six and added 49 runs for the tenth wicket with the last batsman Hamza Tahir (7). Scotland were bowled out for 144 runs in 42.5 overs. Adil spent only 31 runs in 10 overs and Sompal only 40 runs in 10 overs.

After Asif Sheikh scored 71 runs, Nepal completed the target in 25.1 overs  The

was a historic victory. Player of the match Asif hit 10 fours and 1 six off 62 balls. Asif and Kushal Bhurtel got off to a good start with 47 runs in 8 overs, and Asif and captain Rohit Paudel added 48 runs for the third wicket. The moment of defeating Scotland for the first time on their home soil will live on in Nepali cricket for a long time.

Kirtipur (February 21, 2023)

Nepal was in a difficult position in World Cup League 2. The second game was played in a wave of needing to win 9 of the last 12 matches to maintain ODI international status. But defeating Scotland was like chewing iron chin for Nepal. If Nepal was defeated, Scotland would become the winner of League 2. Although George Muncy scored 60 runs in 50 balls, the Nepali bowler fulfilled his responsibility by dismissing Scotland for 212 runs in 46.1 overs.

But in the 32nd over, Nepal had lost 8 wickets when they scored 138 runs. Rohit Poudel showed his maturity from here. After he scored an unbeaten 95 off 101 balls, Nepal completed the target in 44.1 overs. After hitting a winning boundary off Safyan Sharif, Rohit celebrated with a roar, showing off his muscles. Rohit has been considering this as the best innings of his career. Rohit shared an unbeaten partnership of 75 runs with Karan KC for the ninth wicket. Karan, who took 3 wickets in bowling, again played another useful innings in batting. Karan scored 31 runs off 37 balls with 2 fours and 1 six.

A win that can give life

Dallas (October 29, 2025)

Nepali bowlers dominated Scotland again. After Sandeep Lamichhane took 3 wickets and fast bowlers Karan KC, Sompal Kami and Gulshan Jha took 2 wickets each, Scotland lost the toss and came into bat and were bowled out for 154 runs in 41.4 overs at Grand Prairie. Mark Watt, batting at number eight, scored 34 off 40 balls.

Arif Shaikh scored an unbeaten 51 in a memorable victory on foreign soil. He hit 8 fours while playing 42 balls while becoming the player of the match. After Arif and Gulshan shared an unbeaten partnership of 57 runs for the sixth wicket, Nepal scored 157 runs within 30 overs. This was only Nepal's second win in the 2024–27 League 2 circuit, which could revive Nepal's difficult journey.
