Syangja team has become the champion in the 5th Gandaki state level ITF Taekwondo tournament in Burtibang, Baglung. Syangja became the champion for the third time in a row.
Syangja won 15 gold, 3 silver and 7 bronze medals in the competition in which teams from different 6 districts of Gandaki province and the host team participated. Tanahun won the second place with 7 gold, 4 silver and 9 bronze medals. Host Baglung finished third with 4 gold, 5 silver and 11 bronze.
Ahom Gurung of Syangja was declared the best player for women and Tanahun was declared the best player of the year for men.
Acting Mayor of Dhorpatan Municipality, Dhan Bahadur Kathayat, said that sports fields increase discipline and ability in individuals and said that athletes are jewels of the nation. Chairman of Dhorpatan Municipality 2, Vek Bahadur Khatri, expressed the view that development of the country is possible only with the development of sports fields.
