The Nepal Golf Association is going to organize the 11th Nepal Amateur Open Golf Championship next week. This prestigious tournament is being held from May 20 to 22 at the Par 72 Gokarna Golf Club.
Deepak Acharya, Secretary General of Nepal Golf Association, informed that in the three-day 54-hole competition, players from South Asia, India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka, along with Nepal, will submit claims for the title. The participation of 45 male and 10 female golfers has been confirmed in the tournament. Acharya said that this number may increase as there is time to register players till Sunday. There will be individual and team competition for
men. In the men's team event, there will be 2 players from each country and the winner will be declared based on the combined score after 36 holes. The organizer Nepal will participate two teams. Number one amateur golfer Sadbhav Acharya and national team member Rahul Vishwakarma will be in the Nepali 'A' team. It is said that the decision of Nepal 'B' team will be made on Sunday.
On the individual side, 30 to 35 players will participate from Nepal, while 10 players including 2 women will come from India and 4 players from Sri Lanka. 2 players each from Bangladesh and Bhutan will participate. Among the Nepalese players, 6 players have been selected from Koshi and Gandaki provinces. General Secretary Acharya informed that other players are from Bagmati province.
In the individual men's competition, the cut will be applied after 36 holes. The best 60 percent of the participating players will secure a spot for the final 18 holes. Players from Nepal and India will participate in the women's competition.

NGA President Tasi Ghale said that this tournament will be important for encouraging young players and for their world ranking. Ghale expressed his gratitude to the sponsors and supporters who helped to organize the competition.
Ghale informed that NGA is now planning to focus on youth development. "We have requested the state and district golf associations to send U-16 players for the tournament as well, because after this we are planning to prepare their national ranking," he said.
Ghale said the top players will then get the opportunity to participate in training and international competitions. He claims that the Nepal Amateur Open, which has entered its 11th edition, is playing an important role in promoting youth development and amateur golf in Nepal and South Asia.
